Aloha everyone, My name is Tavis Kagawa and I recently moved from my home state of Hawaii to Oregon to start a family with my wife. I enjoy playing guitar, cooking, and fishing in my free time. I have been a full time educator since 2013 and have worked with students in a variety of other programs for a lot longer.

With eight years of teaching experience, I’ve spent my time guiding learners through the world of English Language Arts, mostly for grades 9 to 12, in the beautiful states of Montana and Oregon. I have been teaching for 28 years and have experience with 2nd, 5th and 7th grade learners in all subjects, both in English and Spanish. I have taught in multiple states including Texas and Washington, as well as online nationwide. I hold a Bachelor's degree in English and Political Science, as well as a Master's in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. I am also certified in Bilingual EC-8, Elementary Education, and hold a National Board Certificate in English as a New Language. Outside of teaching, I have a variety of interests and hobbies that keep me motivated and continuously learning. I enjoy running, exploring new technology, and flying drones. I am also passionate about travel and scuba-diving, which have taught me the importance of discovery and problem solving. With almost three decades of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with learners in grades 2, 4, and 5, as well as providing reading and math remediation, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Executive Function Coaching. My teaching journey has primarily taken place in North Carolina, where I have been able to make personal connections with my students and their families. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6) and a Masters degree in Reading Education (K-12). In addition, I have received certifications in Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) education and as a Reading Specialist. These qualifications have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to effectively support my learners in their academic and personal growth.

I have been teaching for 10 years and have experience in a variety of grades and subjects. I have taught college-level Russian for adults, high school Russian for grades 9-12, elementary/middle school Russian for grades K-8, middle school ELA for grades 6-8, and general elementary for grade 3. My teaching experience has taken me to different states and regions including Toronto (ON), Columbus (OH), Middlebury (VT), and Phoenix (AZ). I hold a Masters in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Toronto, a BS in Food Science from Brigham Young University, and a BA in Russian from Brigham Young University. In addition, I am certified to teach secondary education by the AZ Department of Education. My fluency in Russian allows me to connect with students who speak this language as their native or second language. As an educator, I strive to make online learning enjoyable and effective for my students. I use a combination of online and in-person tools such as interactive whiteboards, puppets, ongoing games, and storyboards to engage learners. My genuine passion for the subject I am teaching and my care for my students' interests allows me to create a fun and supportive learning environment. I also make sure that my students are able to access the most effective online tools and encourage them to explore new information outside of our sessions. Outside of teaching, my personal interests and hobbies include chess, language learning, film, music, juggling, and puppetry. I am Andrea Ballard, a 1996 graduate of the HBCU, Jackson State University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and I also holding a Master’s degree in Special Education with Emphasis on Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is an educator with 29 years of teaching experience ranging from elementary to high school. She taught Special Education for 26 years before diving back into teaching 3rd grade General Education class this school year. She has wanted to be an educator since the age of 5 yrs old. Her goal has always been to help children achieve their greatest level of success in and out of the classroom by helping them learn in the way that is most suited for them.

Hi! I’m Teacher Michelle, a licensed US and Philippine educator with 12 years of teaching experience across elementary classrooms, ESL instruction, and after-school programs. I’ve taught in the United States for 5 years, in the Philippines for 2 years, and spent 5 years as a remote ESL teacher, helping students around the world build confidence and strong academic foundations. I use a gentle, encouraging, and structured approach designed especially for young learners. I firmly believe children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and understood; and my students consistently achieve higher-than-national-average growth because of this calm, confidence-building environment. Hi, my name is Vrinda. I studied at the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's in Biological Sciences, minors in Chemistry and Economics, and Certificates in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine and Global Health on the pre-med track. I have tutored in various subjects like Algebra, Writing, Reading, Biology, and Chemistry to elementary, middle, and high school students since I was in high school.
