Writing Tutoring for 12th Grade

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I have had the opportunity to work with learners of all ages, but my true passion lies in working with elementary and middle school students. I have taught a wide range of subjects including English, Information Science, and Social Studies to students in 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 12th grade. I have taught in various locations such as Nevada, Korea, and Thailand, and am currently based in Nevada. My love for teaching and connecting with students has brought me all over the world, and I am excited to continue this journey with Dojo Tutor! I hold a Bachelor's degree in English and Information Science. I am also a certified teacher with a Nevada Teaching License, ensuring that I am equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to support your child's learning. Besides being fluent in English, I am also fluent in Thai, and I always strive to create a comfortable learning environment for my Thai-speaking students. As an educator, my goal is to make online learning not only effective but also fun and engaging for my learners. I use a variety of methods such as games and understanding each student's individual learning style to keep the lessons interactive and interesting. I also use formal and informal assessments to ensure that my students are making progress and reaching their learning goals. Outside of teaching, my interests include food, travel, anime, manga, movies, games, and shows. I try to incorporate these interests into my lessons to make them more relatable and enjoyable for my students. With 9 years of experience, I've had the joy of teaching kids from Pre-K all the way up to high school. I've helped learners with English as a Second Language and worked as a paraprofessional in subjects like science, history, and social studies. My adventures in teaching have taken me across Connecticut, where I’ve seen how learning can come alive in fun and meaningful ways! I believe learning should feel like an exciting treasure hunt! In our online sessions, I create a cozy and interactive space where each learner feels confident to share and shine. By using visuals, games, and real-life examples, I make sure that lessons are not only relatable but also tons of fun! Outside of the classroom, I’m an avid animal lover. I have dogs, cats, talking parrots, and even some quirky chickens! With 45 years of teaching under my belt, I’ve had the joy of guiding learners in subjects like ESL, English, Reading, Writing, Spanish, Social Studies, and I’ve even written and directed plays. I've traveled the world, teaching in places like Virginia, New York, and all the way to Thailand (Peace Corps) , Korea, and Singapore! Outside of teaching, I'm passionate about genealogy, drama, and creative writing. I also enjoy studying world religions, which helps me appreciate different cultures and histories. These interests fuel my teaching style, making each lesson an opportunity for discovery and connection. No matter where we are, I know we can make learning fun and engaging. With two years of teaching under my belt, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to work with kids from 1-year-olds up to 6th grade in beautiful Valencia, Spain. I believe that every child has a unique spark, and I’m here to help them shine!

Working with children has always been my passion. I’ve been a licensed teacher since 2016 and tutor since 2011. I am now studying to be a child and family therapist and love getting to tutor through Class Dojo while earning my Master of Social Work degree.
