I have been teaching in Tennessee for 23 years, specializing in 2nd and 3rd grade subjects. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Masters in Education, and a +45 in Education. In addition, I am a certified professional educator. My goal as a tutor is to make learning relevant and engaging for my students. I will celebrate their successes and encourage growth in areas where they may struggle. As an experienced teacher, I believe that effective online learning begins with strong communication, patience, encouragement, and excitement. These strategies ensure that students are engaged and motivated to learn. Outside of teaching, my personal interests include reading, spending time watching my boys play baseball, and soaking up the sunshine. These interests greatly influence my teaching style and methodology. I believe that making learning enjoyable is key to helping students thrive. Whether we're reading a book together, playing a game, or exploring a new concept, I make sure that my students are having fun while learning. I can't wait to share this same excitement with your learner and help them reach their full potential!

I have been teaching for 25 years, across Louisiana and Georgia, in a variety of grades and subjects including Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies for 1st-3rd grade, and 6th-8th grade Reading/Language Arts. Through my years of experience, I have earned a B.A in Communications, a Post Bacculearate Special Education degree, and an M.S in Early Childhood Education. My teaching certifications include Early Childhood (k5), Gifted and Talented and Special Education prek-12. With these qualifications, I am able to effectively cater to the needs of all learners, including those who require additional support. I make online learning fun and engaging for my students by using interactive activities and incorporating their interests into their lessons. By doing this, I am able to create a personalized learning experience for each of my students, making sure they are fully engaged and motivated to learn. Additionally, I use both formal and informal strategies to assess for understanding, ensuring that each lesson is effective and beneficial for my learners. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy bowling, participating in 5K runs, and hiking. These interests inspire my teaching style and methodology as I always encourage my students to never give up and to always believe in themselves. I am excited to work with your family and child to help them reach their full potential and achieve academic success. Through personalized and engaging 1:1 sessions, I am dedicated to ensuring that your child not only learns but also enjoys the learning process. I look forward to embarking on this learning journey with you and helping your child grow and thrive!

Hi! I’m Jessica, and I’m so excited to begin this learning journey with you and your child! I’ve been teaching for six years, and my passion for education grows stronger every day. I’ve had the joy of teaching Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade — covering all core elementary subjects — and I truly believe that every student can learn with the right support and encouragement. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K–6) and am a certified Special Education and ESOL teacher. I’m also currently pursuing my second Master’s degree in Educational Technology, which allows me to bring innovative, tech-based strategies into my lessons and make online learning even more engaging and effective. As a tutor with Dojo Tutor, I focus on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels confident and capable. I use a mix of games, brain breaks, and rewards to keep sessions fun and motivating, while regularly checking progress through assessments and interactive activities. My upbeat personality helps me connect with students and make learning something they look forward to. Outside of teaching, I enjoy baking, traveling, shopping, cooking, photography, and spending time at the beach. I’m also a big fan of Disney World, Target, and Starbucks — and I love bringing that same fun, energetic spirit into my lessons! I can’t wait to share my love of learning with your child and help them reach their goals in a way that’s meaningful, personalized, and full of joy.

Expert 2nd grade spelling support, built around your child

Second grade spelling introduces more complex patterns — vowel teams, r-controlled vowels, and longer words. Children who struggle with these patterns may fall behind in reading and writing.

At Dojo Tutor, our 2nd grade spelling tutors work 1-to-1 with your child to build understanding and skills. Whether it's mastering vowel patterns, learning spelling rules, or building word study habits, sessions target your child's specific challenges.

With personalized support, your child can develop strong spelling skills that support success across subjects.
