With a decade of teaching under my belt, I've had the joy of guiding learners from Kindergarden all the way to 8th grade in English, Reading, Writing, Spanish, and Visual Arts. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching in vibrant places like Florida, Illinois, China, Japan, and Mexico—each experience adding a colorful layer to my teaching style.

Hi! My name is Kelly and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I am in my fourth year of teaching, primarily in first grade. In this role, I have taught various subjects including reading, math, science, social studies, and health. I've had the joy of working with learners of all backgrounds and abilities, and have loved every moment of it. Currently, I am based in Maryland, but I am open to working with families from all over. I hold a B.A. in psychology and a PhD in child development, which have equipped me with a deep understanding of how children learn and grow. I am also certified to teach elementary education for grades 1-6. In addition to English, I am fluent in French and Spanish, and have loved incorporating these languages into my teaching whenever possible. My goal is to create a fun, inclusive, and enriching learning environment for all of my learners. When it comes to online learning, I strive to make every session enjoyable and effective. I am always looking for new and creative ways to engage my students, whether it's through gamified tools like Quizizz and Blooket, or through interactive simulations for science lessons. I also regularly use songs and videos to make my lessons more engaging and multimodal. My improv comedy background has also been helpful in teaching, as it has taught me the importance of being adaptable and flexible in any learning situation. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing board games, reading fantasy novels, and performing improv with an amateur team. I believe that my personal interests have definitely influenced my teaching style, making it more dynamic, engaging, and fun for my learners.

Expert elementary Spanish support, built around your child

Elementary school is an ideal time for language learning — young brains absorb new languages more easily, and early exposure builds foundations that last. Children who start Spanish now have significant advantages later.

At Dojo Tutor, our Spanish tutors work 1-to-1 with your child to build language skills through engaging activities. Vocabulary, conversation, songs, and games develop Spanish abilities while fostering a love of language learning.

With personalized support, your child can develop Spanish foundations during these optimal learning years.
