Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Tutoring for 4th Grade

With 13 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of teaching 2nd and 3rd graders in all subjects. I have taught in both Virginia and California, and am now excited to bring my expertise to North Carolina for the upcoming school year! I hold a Masters of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and am also a multiple subject credentialed teacher in both California and North Carolina. I believe in making online learning fun and engaging for my students by incorporating their interests into my lessons and keeping things light and silly. I understand the importance of fostering a positive and enjoyable learning environment in order for children to truly engage and retain information. In addition, I am a firm believer in quick and relevant lessons that are tailored to each child's individual needs. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, dancing, sewing, and spending time with my family, friends, and puppy. These interests have greatly influenced my teaching style, as I believe in the importance of incorporating creativity, building strong relationships, and having fun in the learning process. I have been teaching in public elementary schools for 10 years, specializing in grades 1-6 in subjects such as Reading, Math, Science, and History. I have had the pleasure of teaching in both the United States, specifically Virginia, and in my home country, the Philippines. I hold a Masters of Arts in Educational Management and am proud to hold teaching licenses in both Virginia and the Philippines. I am currently enrolled in PhD program to upgrade and update myself with the current methods and strategies in teaching. I am a mom and a wife! Our daughter is 18 and graduated May of 2025! She has recently graduated phlebotomy school! I have been married to Scott for 23 years! They are my world and teaching is my passion! I only have one daughter but in my teaching career I have grown to love all my families and still keep up with many students who are now grown and have kids of their own!

Hello!! I have 25 years of experience in public education. I began my career in 2000 as a 2nd grade teacher, then moved to 1st grade the next year and taught 1st grade for five years. Then, I taught 4th grade Reading Language Arts for one year, and then an opportunity presented itself for me to move into a literacy coaching role at a new elementary school in my previous district. I coached teachers for five years, then moved into administration. Since 2012, I have served as a data analyst and a technology lead. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends and family. We have two daughters and one precious Maltese-Shitzu mix! I also love to run, strength train, and do Pilates. I also enjoy cooking and baking!

I have also served as a Reading Interventionist, working one-on-one with students to improve their reading skills. Hi my name is Dr. Serrano and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been teaching for 9 years, with 4 of those years spent as an administrator. My main focus has been on RLA (Reading, Language Arts) for learners in grades 6-8. My teaching experience has been primarily in Texas, where I have had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of students and families. I hold a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and have obtained certifications as a generalist for grades 4-8 and EC-6. In addition, I am also qualified to teach English as a Second Language for learners in grades EC-8. I am proud to say that I am do know some Spanish, which has allowed me to connect with and support Spanish-speaking learners and their families. As a tutor, I understand the importance of making online learning fun and engaging for kids. That's why I strive to personalize each lesson to cater to the individual needs and interests of my learners. I also make sure to come prepared for each session, utilizing effective strategies to ensure that online learning is not only enjoyable but also effective.
