Science Tutoring for 7th Grade

I am an experienced elementary educator who is passionate about helping students build confidence and skills in a supportive, encouraging environment. I have worked with students across multiple grade levels and subjects, and I love helping children discover that learning can feel achievable—and even fun. My goal is always to help students grow academically while also feeling proud of their progress.

Teaching for 3 years in North Carolina has allowed me to fall in love with the joy and energy that kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade bring to learning. From my experience teaching 7th grade science to high school math, I have learned the importance of making sure learners have interaction not only with the content, but with me as well. This helps me to adjust my teaching style and ensure that students enjoy what they are learning while also obtaining the necessary knowledge. I have a bachelors degree in Biology, and while I may not have any teaching certifications or special qualifications, my experience as a coach has taught me the value of encouragement and the power of slow but steady improvement. In my online sessions, I like to incorporate testing of knowledge at the beginning, middle, and end to ensure effective learning. I also make sure to cater to different learning styles to ensure that each student is able to thrive in our sessions. Outside of teaching, I enjoy watching and playing sports and love to use my coaching experience to inspire and motivate my students to reach their goals. I have been teaching for 8 years, primarily in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and another Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. My teaching experience has been focused in North Carolina, where I have taught in various schools and worked with diverse groups of students. One of my favorite methods for making online learning fun and engaging is by incorporating the student's name and interests into the lesson. Additionally, I frequently use the whiteboard feature on Zoom to work on problems together in real-time. This allows for a more interactive and effective learning experience for the student. Outside of teaching, I enjoy running, watching baseball, baking, crocheting, and sewing. These hobbies have taught me patience, creativity, and problem-solving skills, which I bring into my teaching methodology. I am constantly looking for ways to make learning more enjoyable and engaging for my students, and I often pull examples from my experiences with these hobbies to help students relate to the subject matter. As someone with a background in law and a Masters in International and Comparative Law, I have a unique perspective that I bring to my teaching. Hello! I have been teaching now for 33 years and I see no end in sight. I still love teaching as much now as I did in my first year! I love spending time with my two grandchildren when I'm not teaching, and I also love to read in my spare time. I strive to tailor my teaching style and content to suit my students' learning preferences. Establishing clear learning goals and helping students to track their progress is very important to me.
