Science Tutoring for 4th Grade

I have been teaching for over 30 years, and during that time I have taught all grades K-8 (except for second grade) and all subjects in elementary school, as well as 6th through 8th grade science. I have experience teaching in Germany, New York, and Nevada, and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Secondary Earth Science Education.

I have extensive experience in teaching special education, specifically focusing on mathematics and science for students in grades 6 through 8. Additionally, I have proficiency in instructing young learners in a self-contained kindergarten setting. My background equips me with the skills necessary to create inclusive and engaging educational experiences tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Through the application of differentiated instruction and adaptive teaching techniques, I strive to foster a supportive learning environment that promotes academic growth and personal development.

With 15 years of teaching under my belt, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding learners in grades 2 through 6 across various subjects like Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and even Bible studies! I’ve spent my time teaching in Tennessee, and I’m genuinely passionate about helping kids not just understand their lessons but also to love learning itself. When it comes to making online learning fun, I believe it starts with getting to know each of my learners. I adapt our sessions based on what they enjoy, whether it’s a favorite game or a cool science fact! I use interactive tools like whiteboards, visuals, and even polls to keep the energy high and the minds buzzing. I love asking open-ended questions to encourage thoughtful thinking and sharing, not just listening. Outside of the classroom, you’ll often find me jamming to music, tending to my garden, or scribbling down poems. Music has a magical way of enhancing learning, so I like to weave it into our lessons whenever I can. I also cherish quality time with my kids, sharing silly moments and new discoveries. I have been teaching for 20 years and have had the pleasure of working with a variety of learners. From 4th to 12th grade, I have taught everything from math and science to biology and forensics. My experience has taken me to Florida, Utah, and Oregon, where I have gained a diverse understanding of different teaching methods and approaches. I hold a BS in Biology and an MS in Curriculum & Instruction. I am also certified in PK-12 Integrated Science in Oregon.
