With over 24 years of teaching experience, I have a passion for helping young learners reach their full potential. From first to fifth grade, I've taught a variety of subjects including ELA, writing, science, and social studies. All of my teaching experience has taken place in Tennessee, where I have been able to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Master's in Reading Specialist, and a Master's in Library Media Specialist. I believe that continuing education is key to being a successful educator and I am always looking for new ways to improve my teaching practice. In addition, I have extensive experience working with students with different learning abilities and am committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all learners. In my free time, I love to shop, color, and work out. These interests may seem unrelated to teaching, but they actually influence my teaching style and methodology. Working out helps me to stay focused and energized, while coloring is a calming and relaxing activity that allows me to recharge. By incorporating these interests into my teaching, I am able to create a fun and engaging learning experience for my students. I understand that online learning can be challenging for both learners and families, but I am dedicated to making it a positive and effective experience. I use interactive games and constantly check for understanding to keep my students engaged and on track. I believe that every learner has the potential to succeed and I am committed to helping them reach their goals. Let's work together to make learning an enjoyable and meaningful journey!

With 23 years of teaching experience, I cannot wait to help young learners in grades Pre-K through 2 grow and reach their full potential. My teaching journey has taken me to amazing places, including teaching in beautiful Tennessee. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's degree in Reading Education. With these degrees, I am fully equipped to provide your child with the best education possible. As a dedicated educator, I understand the importance of making online learning enjoyable and effective for my students. That's why I love to incorporate my students' interests into their lessons, play educational games, use visual aids, and make lessons interactive. By doing so, I am able to keep my young learners engaged and motivated throughout our sessions. Additionally, I strive to communicate effectively and make learning an active experience for my students. I also take into account their feedback to constantly improve and ensure that their online learning experience is effective. Aside from teaching, I have many personal interests and hobbies that I love to engage in. I am a big fan of junk journaling, which allows me to get creative and explore my artistic side. I also enjoy reading, solving puzzles, and painting. These interests greatly influence my teaching style and methodology, as I incorporate creativity and imagination into my lessons. By using different mediums and presenting information in unique ways, I am able to cater to the individual needs of my learners and make the learning experience more enjoyable. I can't wait to bring this same energy and excitement to our online sessions together.

Expert preschool reading support, built around your child

The preschool years are when children develop the foundational skills that make learning to read possible — letter recognition, phonological awareness, print concepts, and vocabulary. Early exposure to these skills predicts future reading success.

At Dojo Tutor, our early literacy specialists make pre-reading skills playful and engaging. Working 1-to-1 with your child, they build letter knowledge, sound awareness, and a love of books through songs, games, and interactive activities designed for young learners.

With the right early support, your child can enter kindergarten ready to learn to read.
