Hi! I am Mrs. Peña-Martinez, and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been a teacher for 16 years and have taught a range of grades and subjects including first, third, and fourth grade. My teaching experience has been primarily in Texas, where I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of learners. I hold a Master's degree in Education and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I also have special qualifications and certifications in Bilingual education, Special Education, Gifted and Talented instruction, and Spanish. My fluency in Spanish allows me to connect with students and families who may speak this language at home. As a tutor, I strive to make online learning fun and engaging for my students. I carefully prepare each lesson and use my body language and voice to create a cheerful and positive learning environment. I also incorporate interactive activities and tools to keep learners actively engaged and I prompt them to reflect on their learning process. Additionally, I understand that every student learns differently, so I make sure to plan lessons that are adapted to individual learning styles. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing sports like volleyball and baseball. I also love learning about other cultures and languages through movies, which helps me to be linguistically and culturally responsive in my teaching. I believe that my personal interests and experiences as a mother, combined with my passion for learning about different cultures and languages, greatly influence my teaching style and methodology. I always strive to see things from a learner's perspective and I use sports and child-friendly characters as a fun and relatable way to connect with kids. I am looking forward to getting to know your family and working together to make learning a fun and rewarding experience for your child.

Hi There! My name is Amanda Cochran and I am a mother of 5. I enjoy working with children and have done so since I was 11. My early years started with babysitting as well as helping with completing homework. As I entered into high school, I would work kids afterschool in Tiger Tots where we combine learning with games. I would assist with watching children as well as keeping them engaged. In my college years, I began to nanny for a few families while completing my degree in the medical field. My hope was to become a Medical Assistant in a pediatrician office to keep my love of working with kids in my everyday life. Soon after completing my degree, I became a mother and my focus has been on my children ever since. We decided to homeschool our children due to our military background and relocating happening pretty frequently. I am very hands on and enjoy trying different strategies and styles to help kids learn as well as having fun. I went on to work at an afterschool facility and tutor groups of kids up to 20 and also 1:1 when needed. Work was always a blast and the connection with the kids I got to see daily was amazing! I now tutor online with 2 different companies along with Sunshine and it is such a rewarding experience! I get to work with all different ages and different skill levels to help improve their knowledge. I enjoy being a part of their "ah ha" moments and helping them through the struggles. The connection and respect we have for each other is an amazing feeling. I look forward to expanding on my skills and knowledge as well as providing a great environment for your child as we grow together!

I have 25 years of teaching experience, working with learners in grades K-21 in a variety of subjects including Special Education, Reading, English, Science, and Life Skills. I have taught in both Illinois and Wisconsin, and I hold a Masters of Science in Education (MSED) degree. Growing up, I always had a passion for learning and I love being able to share that excitement with my students. In my online sessions, I use interactive quizzes, fun polls, and engaging games to make learning an adventure. I know that every learner is different, so I encourage my students to work at their own pace and choose projects that spark their curiosity. I also believe in the power of personalized feedback and am always available to offer timely and constructive support. My goal is to ensure that online learning is not only fun, but also effective for my students. I design my courses with clear learning goals and a logical flow, and use a variety of resources including videos, quizzes, and simulations to make learning an active experience. I also show my students the real-world applications of what we are learning and provide personalized feedback to help them grow. With my guidance, I also teach valuable self-regulation skills so that my students can become confident and independent learners. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time on the water, practicing yoga, and performing in traveling waterski shows. My hobbies and personal experiences have also influenced my teaching style and methodology, allowing me to bring a unique and diverse perspective to my sessions. I look forward to working with you and your family to help your child thrive and succeed in their learning journey!
