Hello, I'm Mrs. Buey! I enjoy spending time with my husband, 3 children and dog, Remi. I am a dedicated teacher in my 20th year of education, and I truly love what I do. I'm passionate about helping students reach their full potential by challenging, enriching, and supporting them every step of the way.

With over 20 years of teaching experience—from preschool to adult education—I’ve taught in sunny California, the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico, and even internationally! I hold a Bachelor's in Art and Psychology, plus two Master's degrees in Instructional Design & Technology and Waldorf Education. I also hold certifications in ESL, TESOL, and Learning and Life Coaching. When I'm not teaching, I'm 3D printing, watching movies with my teenage son, or relaxing with my cat—hobbies that remind me creativity fuels learning! I can't wait to meet your child and make learning an adventure!

With four wonderful years of teaching experience under my belt, I've had the joy of working with kids in 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades across the sunny states of Texas, North Carolina, and Colorado. Not only have I taught core subjects, but I've also helped kids thrive as part of the special education team, as a reading interventionist for grades K - 5. When I'm not in the virtual classroom, you can find me baking up some sweet treats, diving into a good book, or exploring the great outdoors with my dog Juno.

I have been teaching for 10 years, with experience teaching in Pre-K and grades 9-12 in North Carolina. My passion for education led me to pursue multiple degrees in various fields, including Family and Consumer Sciences, Instructional Technology, and Birth-Kindergarten Education. As a tutor, I hold certifications in Birth-Kindergarten Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Computer Information, which have equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to support your child's learning journey. Though English is the only language I can fluently speak, I am dedicated to ensuring the success of my learners through engaging and interactive online sessions.

I have been teaching for 7 years, primarily focused on middle and high school students in the state of Arizona. My degrees in Education with a focus on English and History have given me a solid foundation in teaching and curriculum development. I also hold an Autism Certification, allowing me to better understand and support students with special needs. My approach to teaching is personalized and engaging, always seeking to make learning fun for my students through a combination of their interests and positive reinforcement. I truly believe that each learner is unique and deserves a tailored approach to their education. In my classroom, or in this case, our online classroom, I prioritize making sure learning is effective for each learner. This means setting clear expectations, using lots of visuals, giving positive feedback, and staying organized. I believe that a positive and structured learning environment is key to helping learners reach their full potential. Outside of teaching, I am passionate about keeping a positive mindset and incorporating mindfulness into my life. My interests in traveling, yoga, and reading help me to stay balanced and bring a calm energy to my teaching. I believe that a happy teacher makes for happy learners, and I am excited to bring my personal interests into our learning journey together.

I’m was a Special Education Teacher for 10 years. Now, I am a Math Interventionist with helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I’m certified in Special Education, trained in Arts Integration, and deeply grounded in Social Emotional Learning. In short: I make math make sense, and I help kids believe in themselves while they’re doing it. I’ve served in multiple leadership roles across the district and even taught on the VDOE VA TV Classroom broadcast during the pandemic — which was equal parts exciting and chaotic, but we made history.

I have experience teaching gifted and talented students in 4th grade, and I love creating lessons that are both engaging and challenging. In 2022 I was awarded Teacher of the Year. I specialize in math, reading, and STEM, and I enjoy helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their learning. I focus on making learning fun, hands-on, and tailored to each student’s strengths and interests. Hi my name is Dawn and I am excited to partner with you this school year! I have been teaching for 29 years, with experience in both New York and Florida. During that time, I have taught a variety of grades and subjects, including Kindergarten through 4th grade in general education classrooms, as well as 5th through 8th grade math.
