With 25 years of teaching under my belt, I've had the pleasure of helping learners from fifth grade all the way up to adults. After teaching in North Carolina, I’m thrilled to bring my love for reading and writing to our online sessions! My goal is to make online learning a fun adventure! I want to know what sparks joy for my learners—whether it's their favorite superheroes or exciting hobbies—so I can weave those interests into our lessons. I believe that when kids see their own world reflected in the lessons, learning becomes a fantastic journey. I also like to keep things interactive by summarizing key points, checking in with surveys, and inviting feedback to help everyone stay engaged and inspired! When I'm not in the virtual classroom, you can find me exercising, cooking up a storm, or getting creative with fiber arts. I firmly believe in living a healthy lifestyle, and I hope to inspire my learners to enjoy their unique journeys too. I can’t wait to meet you, share some laughs, and explore the wonders of language together!

What if the only thing standing between your child and success is confidence? So many capable students struggle — not because they aren’t smart, but because they doubt themselves or don’t yet have strong foundational skills. I specialize in turning hesitation into independence by strengthening the core building blocks in reading, writing, and math. And if your child is already on grade level, I ensure they are thoughtfully challenged and pushed further. Growth isn’t only about catching up — it’s also about stretching strong learners so they stay engaged, motivated, and excited about learning. As a Licensed K–5 Elementary Teacher with 12 years of experience in Chicago Public Schools and a Master’s in Education, I’ve helped thousands of students close skill gaps, build strong foundations, and develop the confidence to tackle new challenges on their own. I’ve earned consistent Distinguished Educator ratings and have been honored as Teacher of the Year — but what matters most to me is watching students begin to believe in themselves. Since 2023, I’ve supported K–5 students on Dojo Tutor in developing the foundational skills that lead to measurable academic growth and increased self-confidence. Families often share that their children begin participating more in class, completing work more independently, and approaching school with a stronger, more positive mindset. What You Can Expect When You Work With Me: Highly Personalized Lessons Every session is thoughtfully tailored to your child’s needs, learning style, and interests. Whether they love sports, animals, art, or science, I incorporate what excites them into our lessons to make learning engaging and meaningful. Clear Progress Monitoring & Reports You’ll never wonder how your child is doing. I provide regular progress updates so you can clearly see growth in skills, confidence, and independence. Strong Foundational Skill Building I identify and address learning gaps early, breaking complex concepts into manageable steps so students truly understand — not just memorize — what they’re learning. Challenge for On-Grade-Level & Advanced Students If your child is meeting grade-level expectations, I extend their thinking with enrichment, higher-level questioning, and deeper problem-solving to keep them growing. A Built-In Cheerleader Your child will always have someone in their corner. I celebrate effort, growth, and persistence, helping students develop a resilient mindset and the confidence to say, “I can do this.” Most importantly, I don’t just help students get the right answers — I teach them how to think strategically, monitor their understanding, and trust their abilities. My goal is to help your child become an independent, confident learner who feels capable inside and outside the classroom. If you’re looking for a supportive, experienced teacher who will meet your child exactly where they are — and help them move forward with clarity, challenge, and confidence — I would love to partner with your family.

I have been teaching for 7 years, primarily focused on middle and high school students in the state of Arizona. My degrees in Education with a focus on English and History have given me a solid foundation in teaching and curriculum development. I also hold an Autism Certification, allowing me to better understand and support students with special needs. My approach to teaching is personalized and engaging, always seeking to make learning fun for my students through a combination of their interests and positive reinforcement. I truly believe that each learner is unique and deserves a tailored approach to their education. In my classroom, or in this case, our online classroom, I prioritize making sure learning is effective for each learner. This means setting clear expectations, using lots of visuals, giving positive feedback, and staying organized. I believe that a positive and structured learning environment is key to helping learners reach their full potential. Outside of teaching, I am passionate about keeping a positive mindset and incorporating mindfulness into my life. My interests in traveling, yoga, and reading help me to stay balanced and bring a calm energy to my teaching. I believe that a happy teacher makes for happy learners, and I am excited to bring my personal interests into our learning journey together.

Expert 4th grade reading support, built around your child

Fourth grade reading demands deeper comprehension — inferencing, analyzing text structure, comparing across texts, and expanding academic vocabulary. Children who read slowly or struggle with comprehension fall further behind as texts become more complex.

At Dojo Tutor, our 4th grade reading tutors work 1-to-1 with your child to strengthen comprehension and critical thinking skills. Whether it's building vocabulary, understanding inference, or improving fluency, sessions target your child's specific challenges.

With personalized support, your child can develop the reading skills needed to succeed in upper elementary and beyond.
