With 11 years of teaching experience, I have had the opportunity to teach a diverse range of learners from PreK to 5th grade. My expertise lies in subjects such as PreK, Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I have taught in Texas, where I have been able to truly connect with my students and their families. My degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Minor in Bicultural Studies have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide my students with a well rounded education. In my online classes, I prioritize making learning fun and engaging for all my students. By incorporating interactive videos, gamified elements like badges and leaderboards, and collaborative tools, I ensure that my lessons are not only educational but also enjoyable. I believe that personalized learning experiences, tailored to each student's interests and learning styles, can greatly enhance their online learning experience. Plus, by connecting lessons to real world scenarios and providing timely feedback, I keep my learners motivated and invested in their learning. When I'm not teaching, you can find me trying out new restaurants in my city or taking a walk along the San Antonio Riverwalk with my family and two Dalmatian dogs. My personal interests greatly influence my teaching style, as I believe that there is always something new to learn and explore. I firmly believe that learning is not confined to the four walls of a classroom, and I am excited to bring that passion for learning to my online classes. I cannot wait to meet you and embark on this learning journey together!

I have been teaching for 36 years, working with children in kindergarten through 4th grade. My expertise lies in teaching subjects such as reading, math, science and social studies. I have a deep passion for education and love helping young learners reach their full potential. I am currently based in Virginia. My educational background includes a degree in Elementary Education and Educational Technology Leadership. I also hold certifications specifically designed for teaching children in grades PK-4 and 4-8. These qualifications have equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively teach and guide young learners. I have experience teaching children with a variety of needs and love working with all children. While I do not hold a Special Education certificate I have support students wth special needs in my classes and was an Instructional Coach for the Students Services Department of my school division. I have also worked with ESL students and their teachers to find ways to help them acquire the English Language. However, I do not speak other languages so it would be helpful if your child could understand some English to make a successful experience. For the last 20 years, I have served as an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher, which involves helping teachers look at their curriculum and develop ways to make it more engaging with technology. Through this work, I have learned of many tools to use with children to help make learning academic concepts easier. I cannot wait to start this learning journey with your family!

I have been teaching for 20 years and have experience working with learners in Pre-K to 5th grade. My passion for teaching and my love for working with kids has led me to teach in sunny Florida, where I have taught for the past 20 years. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Reading, and an Education Specialist degree in Leadership. In addition, I am certified in Elementary Education, Reading K-12, and hold an ESOL Endorsement. I believe that every child is unique and has the potential to succeed, and I am committed to helping your child reach their full potential. One of my main goals as a tutor is to make online learning not only effective, but also fun and engaging for my students. I do this by connecting with my learners, celebrating their successes, and incorporating fun-educational games into our sessions. I also use a variety of presentation tools and educational resources to ensure that my learners are actively engaged and learning in a way that works best for them. My interests and hobbies outside of teaching, such as reading, enjoying nature, and spending time with my family, influence my teaching style and methodology, making it a more personalized and enjoyable experience for my learners. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and working with them to achieve their academic goals. I believe that all kids have the potential to succeed and with the right guidance and support, they can reach their full potential. Let's work together to make learning a fun and rewarding experience for your child!

What if the only thing standing between your child and success is confidence? So many capable students struggle — not because they aren’t smart, but because they doubt themselves or don’t yet have strong foundational skills. I specialize in turning hesitation into independence by strengthening the core building blocks in reading, writing, and math. And if your child is already on grade level, I ensure they are thoughtfully challenged and pushed further. Growth isn’t only about catching up — it’s also about stretching strong learners so they stay engaged, motivated, and excited about learning. As a Licensed K–5 Elementary Teacher with 12 years of experience in Chicago Public Schools and a Master’s in Education, I’ve helped thousands of students close skill gaps, build strong foundations, and develop the confidence to tackle new challenges on their own. I’ve earned consistent Distinguished Educator ratings and have been honored as Teacher of the Year — but what matters most to me is watching students begin to believe in themselves. Since 2023, I’ve supported K–5 students on Dojo Tutor in developing the foundational skills that lead to measurable academic growth and increased self-confidence. Families often share that their children begin participating more in class, completing work more independently, and approaching school with a stronger, more positive mindset. What You Can Expect When You Work With Me: Highly Personalized Lessons Every session is thoughtfully tailored to your child’s needs, learning style, and interests. Whether they love sports, animals, art, or science, I incorporate what excites them into our lessons to make learning engaging and meaningful. Clear Progress Monitoring & Reports You’ll never wonder how your child is doing. I provide regular progress updates so you can clearly see growth in skills, confidence, and independence. Strong Foundational Skill Building I identify and address learning gaps early, breaking complex concepts into manageable steps so students truly understand — not just memorize — what they’re learning. Challenge for On-Grade-Level & Advanced Students If your child is meeting grade-level expectations, I extend their thinking with enrichment, higher-level questioning, and deeper problem-solving to keep them growing. A Built-In Cheerleader Your child will always have someone in their corner. I celebrate effort, growth, and persistence, helping students develop a resilient mindset and the confidence to say, “I can do this.” Most importantly, I don’t just help students get the right answers — I teach them how to think strategically, monitor their understanding, and trust their abilities. My goal is to help your child become an independent, confident learner who feels capable inside and outside the classroom. If you’re looking for a supportive, experienced teacher who will meet your child exactly where they are — and help them move forward with clarity, challenge, and confidence — I would love to partner with your family.

Expert 2nd grade reading support, built around your child

Second grade reading builds fluency and comprehension — children read longer texts, understand more complex vocabulary, and begin answering deeper questions about what they read. Struggles with decoding or fluency can hold comprehension back.

At Dojo Tutor, our 2nd grade reading tutors work 1-to-1 with your child to strengthen all aspects of reading. Whether it's advanced phonics patterns, building fluency, or improving comprehension, sessions target your child's specific needs.

With personalized support, your child can become a fluent reader ready for the demands of 3rd grade.
