I have been teaching for 23 years in Kentucky, specializing in K-2 Library Media and 4th and 5th grade Self-Contained classes. I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with an English and Communications emphasis, a Master's of Arts in Library Science for grades K-12, and a National Board Certification in Library Science for grades K-12, Rank 1. In addition to my teaching experience, I have also taught online classes for VIPKID for several years. I believe the key to effective and enjoyable online learning is building a strong connection with learners. I make sure to understand their interests and tie instruction to what they care about. I also adjust my teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and use fun and interesting rewards to keep kids motivated. In addition, I continuously assess my learners' understanding of the content to ensure that online learning is effective. Outside of teaching, I have a passion for reading and love being a school librarian. I am also a proud parent of a high school basketball player and an all-star cheerleader and gymnast. Their activities have allowed me to gain experience working with a variety of ages and subjects, influencing my teaching style and methodology. I am excited to bring my love for learning and experience to the online learning space and help kids discover the joy of education.

Welcome! My name is Erica, and I would love a brief moment of your time. There are many ideologies centered around education and building knowledge; however, the one I am most interested in concerns you. My main focus, mission, and joy are assisting my students in a way that feels right for them and their families. Kindness, patience, and consistent encouragement are central to my teaching philosophy. Knowledge and insight are foundations built over time, but a student’s ability to intrinsically find the courage to believe in themselves and tackle educational goals is everlasting. I pour every ounce of my energy into making sure that my students receive classes that enlighten and empower them. I have acquired years of teaching experience. During my undergraduate education, I was inspired by the deep, profound joy that teaching evokes. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in English, with a focus on literature, critical analysis, and composition. I have worked with students from kindergarten to the college level, which has afforded me the privilege of supporting developing readers, writers, and emerging learners. Every student matters. Their aspirations, learning challenges, and personalities factor into how I build a tailored, sustainable learning plan. I confidently assist students who require structured guidance, neurodivergent learners, and individuals who simply want to learn something new. Overall, it would be an honor to work with you. Ralph Waldo Emerson famously wrote, “Life is a journey, not a destination.” I do my best to ensure that working with me is a magical experience. It is not about rushing students; it is about creating an encouraging, safe space that allows knowledge to flourish. Outside of teaching, I spend my days enjoying the mystical worlds of fiction, refining my writing, and grounding myself in nature’s beauty. Choosing the right fit can be an anxiety-inducing task; therefore, let’s not worry about the final destination just yet. Allow me to be your support on this journey.
