Reading Tutoring for 10th Grade

Hi, my name is Mrs. Porter, and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I hold an AS in Teacher Education and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. I am also TEFL certified through Premier TEFL! With 20 years of teaching experience in my arena, I’ve had the joy of helping kiddos from Pre-K all the way to high school! Students who have a special need are included! I have even taught adults!

I have been teaching for 28 years. I have tutored on an elementary, middle and high school level in the areas of reading, science, and study skills.

With three years of teaching under my belt, I have worked with little learners in Kindergarten and PreK, as well as fifth graders in Alabama. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with endorsements in English and Social Studies.

I taught for 10 years, 5 of them in public schools, and worked with students of all ages. I led classes in 5th-grade reading, ESOL, GED, and Life Skills. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and am working on my PhD in School Psychology! We can solve any problem together —never be afraid to ask for help!

With 17 years of experience teaching students from Elementary to High School, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion for education to every session. I hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in Education, and I’m certified in Teaching, Gifted Education, and Reading. I hold a master’s degree in English and Writing and certification in K–12 Special Education and K–12th English. I now tutor online, helping students grow in confidence and skill through personalized lessons that make learning meaningful and engaging.

Hi friends💫! I’m Ms. Blount — a lifelong teacher, learner, and lover of all things education! I’ve been teaching for over 25 years, and I absolutely love helping students discover their strengths, build confidence, and have fun while learning. I’ve taught just about every grade level, and I also work as an online tutor for reading and math (Grades 2–8). I believe learning should feel like an adventure — full of curiosity, creativity, and those wonderful “aha!” moments that make kids smile. When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me reading a good book, exploring new places, or enjoying nature walks. I also love puzzles, cooking fun recipes, listening to music, and doing arts and crafts — anything that sparks creativity and imagination! With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the joy of working with young learners across Pre-K to young adults in Texas and Mississippi. I believe that every child has the potential to shine, and I am here to help them discover their unique spark in subjects like English Language Arts, SEL and Social Studies. Together, we'll create a joyful and productive learning environment where your kids can thrive!

I have been teaching for 23 years in Kentucky, specializing in K-2 Library Media and 4th and 5th grade Self-Contained classes. I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with an English and Communications emphasis, a Master's of Arts in Library Science for grades K-12, and a National Board Certification in Library Science for grades K-12, Rank 1. In addition to my teaching experience, I have also taught online classes for VIPKID for several years. I believe the key to effective and enjoyable online learning is building a strong connection with learners. I make sure to understand their interests and tie instruction to what they care about. I also adjust my teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and use fun and interesting rewards to keep kids motivated. In addition, I continuously assess my learners' understanding of the content to ensure that online learning is effective. Outside of teaching, I have a passion for reading and love being a school librarian. I am also a proud parent of a high school basketball player and an all-star cheerleader and gymnast. Their activities have allowed me to gain experience working with a variety of ages and subjects, influencing my teaching style and methodology. I am excited to bring my love for learning and experience to the online learning space and help kids discover the joy of education.
