Reading Tutoring

Hi! I have been with Dojo Tutor since March 2023. I have been teaching since January 2011. I spent 14 years as an ESOL teacher and have transitioned into the role of Reading Specialist this year. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Literacy Education. I have my National Board Certification and am trained in Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive+ and Morphology.

I have been teaching for 3 years, primarily working with 3rd graders in general education. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a focus on grades K-6. My passion for teaching and helping students reach their full potential led me to pursue a Minor in Special Education and a focus in Psychology. I also have various certifications such as Youth Mental Health First Aid and LETRS Science of Reading. My goal is to make every learning session an enjoyable and effective experience for my young learners. Throughout my teaching experience in Wilmington and Brevard, NC, I have been able to adapt to various learning environments and implement engaging techniques to keep my students motivated. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with each learner and tailor my teaching strategies to their interests and goals. I believe that positive reinforcement and encouragement are crucial in building a strong learning foundation. Aside from teaching, I enjoy spending my free time hiking, exploring new places, and spending time with loved ones. These hobbies have greatly influenced my teaching style, as they have taught me to be patient, creative, and adaptable. I am always excited to share new experiences and ideas with my students, and I strive to make each learning session a fun and interactive experience. I look forward to meeting my new learners and their families, and I can't wait to embark on this learning journey together!

As a seasoned educator, I've had the privilege of teaching fifth grade, fourth grade and preschool. I've cultivated a dynamic teaching style combining academic rigor and creativity.

Hello! I am a 20-year veteran in education. In that time, I have worked with kids of all ages, but my preference is elementary-aged students. I've spent seven years as a classroom teacher, and have been a school librarian the rest of the time. I have two children of my own - a 14-year-old daughter and an 11-year old daughter - and I have three furbabies - two cats and one dog. I am looking forward to working with you!

I have been teaching for over 20 years and have had the opportunity to teach grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 in various states and even across the world in Japan. I have a Masters in Elementary Education (K-6) and a degree in Communications Arts & Literature from grades 5-8. In addition to English, I have a good understanding of Japanese which allows me to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds.

I’ve been a classroom teacher for 19 years, working with students from kindergarten through fourth grade. Currently, I teach first grade, and it’s truly my favorite! This is such a magical time in a child’s life—when they’re just beginning to read, explore, and make sense of the world around them. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the sparkle in a child’s eyes when they read a word or sentence on their own for the very first time. With 9 years of teaching experience under my belt, I have had the joy of working with kids from Kindergarten through 6th grade in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Teaching, which helps me connect with my learners and understand their unique needs. To make our online learning sessions bright and engaging, I love incorporating my students' interests and using cool technology tools.
