Math Tutoring for 5th Grade

Hello! My name is Mike (aka Mr. H)! A little about myself... I have been in the education field for nearly 20 years now. 8 of these years have been in the public elementary setting, and the rest of my time was spent in various private school settings...including leadership positions. I am so grateful to be able to have a career that I love! I truly enjoy working with students and their families in helping the students reach their goals. I love help students develop tools and strategies that build their confidence, which leads to greater success and a life long enjoyment of learning! I look forward to working with your family!

I'm currently a 5th grade teacher in a rural district in Michigan. I've taught 3rd -5th grade, along with preschool. I am certified for elementary, all subjects. I've been back in elementary education since 2018 after taking time off to raise my 3 daughters. I have completed training in LETRS and the Science of Reading, and also AMVR (Math Recovery). I have a Master's Degree in Education and am looking at returning to school for a second Master's Degree in Literacy or Curriculum and Design. Besides teaching, I have a small farm with cows, horses, chickens and barn cats. I also have 2 dogs. I am a mom to 3 grown daughters, and I have two grandsons, 10 and 3 months old. I tutor because I am passionate about helping kiddos have a positive experience in school and have mentors in their lives who are there just for them!

I’m on the journey to earn my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, but I love sharing my passion for learning with kids in Kindergarten through 9th grade.
