Kindergarten Tutoring

I have been teaching and working with learners from Kindergarten to 12th grade in subjects such as Reading, Writing, Science, and Math. My teaching experience has primarily been in Nevada, where I am currently located. I hold a Master of Arts in Education with a major in Special Education and am certified to teach K-12 in Nevada. As a tutor, I strive to make online learning enjoyable and effective for my students. I believe that incorporating technology in my teaching is key to keeping learners engaged. That's why I make use of tools like Kahoot, Brainzy, and Fun Brain to spice up my lessons. With the help of videos, audio, and images, I aim to create a fun and interactive learning environment for my students. Aside from teaching, one of my passions is playing tennis. Whether it's on the court or in the virtual world, I believe that sports can teach us valuable lessons about discipline, hard work, and teamwork. As a teacher, I always try to incorporate these values into my teaching style. Hello Everyone! My name is Courtney and I can’t wait to work with you and your child to meet their goals. I have been a Special Education Teacher for the past 12 years working with grades Pre-K to 3rd in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Based on my experiences in lower elementary, I have skills and strategies to teach all learners how to achieve their goals in early literacy, reading and math. I have been trained in Heggerty and Fundations to support any learner with learning how to read and write. I have also been trained in a variety of math curriculums such as Envisions, Go Math and Eureka Squared. In addition to the skills I have as a veteran teacher, I also know the importance of making learning fun, engaging and meaningful. As a Dojo Tutor, I will make my lessons interactive and fun to engage all learners by having puzzles, dance parties and movement breaks. I will do this because, I believe that all children should have access to a quality education no matter their style of learning. I have been teaching for 10 years, specializing in Kindergarten through 6th grade. My teaching experience has primarily been in New Jersey, where I currently reside. I also have experience as an educational school leader and have had multiple role in leadership including Elementary School Dean. In addition to my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Bachelor's Degree in Family and Child Studies, I hold a Standard Teaching Certificate in K-6 for the state of New Jersey. This allows me to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each 1:1 session. I am now a lead interventionist and coach at my elementary school.
