Pre-K - 9th

Hello there! My name is Joe and I am excited to start this learning journey with you! I have been teaching for 8 years, primarily in the Chicago, Illinois area. During my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to work with learners in pre-K through 8th grade, teaching a variety of subjects including library and digital design. My background in elementary education and experience as a school librarian have given me a strong foundation in creating engaging and accessible lessons for young learners, and I am passionate about helping kids develop a love for learning. I believe that learning is more effective when it's personalized and enjoyable, which is why I love connecting with my students through shared interests and incorporating them into our lessons. Whether it's playing music or video games, or bonding over our love for animals, I always strive to create a positive and comfortable learning environment for kids. In order to ensure that online learning is effective, I use a variety of strategies, including data analysis and assessment. By tracking progress and analyzing data, I am able to tailor my lessons to meet the unique needs of each learner. I am also committed to making online learning a fun and engaging experience for kids, so they can stay motivated and excited about their academic progress. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing music and video games, spending time with my two cats and two dogs, and keeping up with the newest technology and trends. I believe that my interests and hobbies greatly influence my teaching style and methodology, and I am always looking for new ways to connect with my students and make learning fun. I can't wait to work with you and your family, and help your child reach their full potential. Whether it's mastering a new skill or strengthening existing ones, I am dedicated to providing quality, personalized instruction that will help your child succeed. Beyond just academic growth, I am also committed to helping kids develop confidence and a positive attitude towards learning. Let's embark on this learning journey together and make it a fun and memorable experience for your child! So let's get started! I am looking forward to meeting you and your child and making learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Together, we can make a difference in your child's education and create a bright future for them. See you in our one-on-one sessions soon!

I have been teaching for the last 6 years, with 3 years spent teaching at a high school and the other 3 years teaching at summer school. My experience teaching covers grades 9-11 in Math II and Math III. I am originally from West Virginia, where I hold a West Virginia Teaching Certificate. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Math and a Masters of Arts in Teaching for 5-adult learners In my free time, I enjoy running and reading, but I also have a passion for learning about different technologies. This interest has greatly influenced my teaching style and methodology, allowing me to use a variety of technology tools in my teaching. I believe that staying updated with the latest technology can make online learning more engaging and effective for my learners. As a tutor at Dojo Tutor, I strive to make online learning fun and engaging for my students. I understand that online learning can be challenging at times, but I have found that game-based learning is extremely effective in keeping kids interested and excited about learning. I use various platforms such as Kahoot, Blooket, Jeopardy Games, NearPods, and Desmos activities to make learning more interactive and enjoyable for my learners. Moreover, I also use strategies like warm-up exercises, modeling, and note-based introductions to ensure that online learning is effective for my students. I am looking forward to connecting with your family and working with your kids at Dojo Tutor. My passion for teaching and using technology as a teaching tool will make your child's learning experience engaging, personalized, and accessible. I can't wait to start this learning journey with you and your family!
